PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing trifluoromethanesulfonyl fluoride, which method, as compared with a conventional production method, can be carried out in fewer steps, in higher yields, and with higher purity. SOLUTION: The method for producing trifluoromethanesulfonyl fluoride (CF<SB>3</SB>SO<SB>2</SB>F) is a method for producing trifluoromethanesulfonyl fluoride (CF<SB>3</SB>SO<SB>2</SB>F) by reacting trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride (CF<SB>3</SB>SO<SB>2</SB>Cl) with a metal fluoride in the presence of water, wherein a halogenated quaternary salt is present combinedly.
