An IEC 61850 server having a preventive diagnosis function is provided to monitor information easily on the current state and remaining lifetime of a transformer by using transformer preventive diagnosis logic processing results in a substation automation system. An IEC 61850 server(1) includes an I/O processor(3), a DB processor(5), a logic processor(2) and a communication processor(4). The I/O processor receives thermal deterioration rate information, remaining lifetime estimation information, overload capacity information, OLTC(On Load Tap Changer) contact wear rate information and FAN estimation control information from an RTU(Remote Terminal Unit)(6) and provides the information to the logic processor. The DB processor downloads a preventive diagnosis logic from an SCL(Substation Configuration Language) constructing unit(8), processes the preventive diagnosis logic into a database and provides the database to the logic processor. The logic processor preventively diagnoses the state of a transformer by using the information and the logic supplied from the I/O processor and the DB processor and provides the preventive diagnosis result to the communication processor. The communication processor provides the preventive diagnosis result to an SCADA(Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system(7).
