PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately reflect a metal gloss about image data read from a metal gloss original. SOLUTION: In this image reader 200, first and second reference charts 131 and 132 with a solid image formed and a metal gloss original 130 are arranged along a main scanning direction on an original mounting plane 150. A control part 180 of the image reader 200 corrects inputted image data of the metal gloss original 130 on the basis of inputted image data of the first and second reference charts 131 and 132 when the image data of the metal gloss original 130 and the image data of the first and second reference charts 131 and 132 obtained when a scanning unit 140 is moved in a direction inclined with respect to the original mounting plane 150 and in a direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction while made to face the metal gloss original 130 and the first and second reference charts 131 and 132.
