PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic object metadata management system for simplifying complicated operation when registering metadata of a photographic object to an image file in an imaging device. SOLUTION: A metadata candidate file is previously generated, and managed by a server 102 on a network 100. The imaging device 105 acquires the metadata candidate file from the server 102 by use of a wireless LAN. The imaging device 105 acquires and selects the desired metadata candidate file by use of position information, time information or the like in imaging. The imaging device 105 has a means for selecting a photographic object area in an image, and selecting the metadata corresponding to the photographic object from a list of a candidate in the metadata candidate file in each the selected photographic object area.
