PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a dot formation dislocation caused by swinging phenomenon of a carriage, or a dot formation position dislocation caused by rolling phenomenon of the carriage, or a dot position dislocation caused by both. SOLUTION: The carriage 16 equipped with recording heads 17A and 17B is supported by a guide shaft 18 and a guide plate 19 and guided in a main scan direction. Bearing parts 16a and 16a contact to the guide shaft 18, and a slider 31 contacts to the guide plate 19. The bearing parts 16a and 16a are separated in the main scan direction by only a distance d. This distance d is set to be equal to a supporting span L<SB>1</SB>of the guide shaft 19, so that the rolling phenomenon of the carriage 16 incident to deflection deformation of the guide shaft 18 is prevented.
