Disclosed is a system (100) for detecting seismic events, the system incl uding a plurality of seismic receivers (121, 122), at least one of the recei vers (121, 122) in the plurality adapted for: monitoring seismic activity, p roviding an alert to at least another of the receivers (121, 122) in the plu rality upon detection of a seismic event, and triggering the monitoring in t he at least another of the receivers (121, 122) in the plurality. A method a nd computer program product for monitoring seismic events is also disclosed.
