<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of suppressing failures generated, when the conveyance conditions of a recording material are different. <P>SOLUTION: Information from a user is accepted (step 101) and the accepted information is outputted to a register section. The register section sets a paper conveyance path, and the like, and registers the set items in a management table (step 102). A main control section registers the passage order of sensors, through which the recording material passes in the management table (step 103). The main control section registers an on-check signal monitoring start time, when a paper conveyance control section starts to monitor an on-check signal outputted from each sensor, and the like, in the management table (steps 104 and 105). The paper conveyance control section monitors whether the on-check signal, etc. are outputted from the sensor (steps 106 and 107).
