BLACK PASTE COMPOSITION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BLACK FILM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black paste composition for forming a black film having a high shielding rate and a fine pattern and to provide a process for producing a black film using the composition.

SOLUTION: The black paste composition is used for preparing a black film 16b and 24 on a front glass substrate 11 constituting a PDP 10 by an offset printing method and comprises 10-50 mass% black oxide powder, 5-30 mass% glass powder and the balance being an organic vehicle wherein an average particle size of the black oxide powder and the glass powder each is in the range of 0.05-0.5μm and the difference between the particle size shown by a peak value in a distribution curve of the black oxide powder and the particle size shown by a peak value in a distribution curve of the glass powder is not more than 0.25μm; and the difference between the half value width in the distribution curve of the black oxide powder and the half value width in the distribution curve of the glass powder is not more than 0.3μm. The black film having the high shielding rate and the fine pattern can be formed by using the black paste composition. The utilization efficiency of a paste material can be enhanced. Complications in conventional production steps using a photolithography method can be improved, which leads to the simplification of production steps.
