PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller for enabling a user to intuitively set a display layout of content by a simple operation, a video display device to be operated by the remote controller, and a video display system configured by including the remote controller and the video display device. SOLUTION: The display layout of content in a display screen 160 of the video display device (digital broadcast receiver 100) can be intuitively set by a layout designation operation that performs drag and drop of content selected from a menu display (content menu icon) 361 to one area display symbol (target marks 351 to 355) on a touch panel 319 of the remote controller 200.
