PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a decision as to whether an ink being poured into an ink storage container can be used or not by a printer side by performing the identification of the ink which is fed/replenished into the ink storage container by the printer side in the printer of a type wherein the ink is fed/replenished into the ink storage container which is arranged for each recording head. SOLUTION: The feeding and the replenishing of the ink into the ink storage container are performed by pouring the ink of the outside into the ink storage container. On the machine body of this printer, a medium reading means for reading an information providing medium 118 on which the information regarding the ink on the outside is recorded is installed. The controller of the printer judges whether the ink being fed into the ink storage container can be used or not based on the ink information of the information providing medium 118 which has been read by the medium reading apparatus.
