PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "map data delivery system and a map data delivery method therefor" adapted to more frequently and more easily deliver updated map data to a navigator. SOLUTION: The map data delivery system includes (1) a map data supply server which generates map data of a prescribed format in real time every time the map data is updated, (2) a map data delivery server which retrieves the update portion of the map data in real time, converts the map data of the update portion to the updated map data (updated XML map data) of an XML format and saves the updated XML map data in order to deliver the updated XML map data, and (3) the navigator which saves the XML format map data, accesses the map data delivery server via a communication network, and acquires the updated XML map data by downloading in order to update the XML format map data.
