PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimal recovery means for the case of using a long head in an ink-jet recorder. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recorder is equipped with at least one recording head 1a for discharging an ink and forming an image, an airtight cap 4a for enclosing the recording head 1a, a pump 8 communicating to the airtight cap, the first liquid flow way which goes through a pressure chamber 7 installed between the airtight cap 4a and the pump 8 and the second liquid flow way which makes the airtight cap 4a communicated to the pump 8 while bypassing the pressure chamber 7.
