PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism capable of excellently performing interpolating operation for position coordinates mapped on a surface of the gamut. SOLUTION: When there are position coordinates that color value data indicate outside a solid line 70 as a boundary surface partitioning off the outside and inside of a color gamut formed in an equipment-independent color space with a cluster of color value data stored in a storage means, a color conversion parameter generating device moves the position coordinates that the color value data indicate to a grid point 91 as a coordinate position on the solid line 70 as the boundary surface and then moves them inward by a predetermined amount to perform the interpolating operation based upon position relationship between a grid point 91' as new position coordinates after the movement and grid points 81 and 82 etc., as position coordinates nearby it.
