MEMORY CONTROLLER AND MEMORY CONTROL METHOD

A memory controller and a memory control method in which the operation of an SDRAM can be set without intentionally stopping access to the SDRAM are provided. The memory controller is provided with a switching signal generating section (18) for generating a switching signal for switching over the setting of the operation of an SDRAM (200), a switching control unit (16) for switching over the operation setting of the SDRAM (200) with a switching setting value (17) by the output of the switching signal from the switching signal generating section (18), and an access control unit (14) for avoiding to receive an access request to the SDRAM (200)for a period from the switching start to the switching end of the operation setting. This makes it possible to change the operation setting of the SDRAM (200) without requiring to intentionally stop the access to the SDRAM (200) in changing the operation setting of the SDRAM (200) and being affected by the access state to the SDRAM (200).
