<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by which time related to toner concentration control of two-component developer including time for securing toner electrifying amount of the developer can be shortened, and waiting time required until image forming operation is started is shortened all the more, and also the deterioration of the developer is suppressed when the toner concentration control of the developer is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 which performs the toner concentration control so as to keep the toner concentration of the developer E fixed on the basis of the result of measurement by a toner concentration sensor 243 detecting the toner concentration of the developer E is equipped with a surface potential sensor 40 and a toner image density sensor 50. When the toner concentration control is to be performed, if the decision is made that image density based on the result of measurement by the toner image density sensor 50 is within a predetermined range in a state that the surface potential of the photoreceptor 21 is within the predetermined range, the toner concentration control of the developer E is finished. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
