<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash memory device and a method for driving the flash memory. <P>SOLUTION: This driving method of a flash memory device comprises: a step for providing a power to a memory device in which setting information relating to operation environment setting is stored in a memory cell array; a step for performing initial reading operation for the memory cell array; a step for storing the setting information read by initial reading operation in a latch circuit; and a step for determining whether the setting information is stored normally in the latch circuit or not based on the setting information provided to the latch circuit and the setting information output from the latch circuit.
