PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card connector in which a reduced manufacturing cost and a smaller size are achieved. SOLUTION: The card connector is provided with a plurality contacts 5, 7, 8 held in a housing 3 with a housing space 36 to house an electronic card 17 having a plurality of connecting pads 171, 172. In the plurality of contacts 5, 7, 8, there are included a first switch contact 7 and a second switch contact 8 which are made contacted and conducted each other with a short circuit connecting pad 172 out of the plurality of the connecting pads 171, 172 when the electronic card 17 is housed in the housing space.
