PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for changing a capture image so that any recording area can be prevented from becoming insufficient and a program for the recording device. SOLUTION: The recording device 2 for recording a capture image to be acquired by capturing an operation screen is provided with a position evaluation value assessment part 12 for assessing a position evaluation value for specifying significance at a position on the capture image of a mouse cursor based on mouse cursor position information showing the operation of a mouse cursor on the operation screen and the display position information of a display object displayed on the capture image; a reduction processing mode decision part 13 for determining a recoding capacity reduction processing mode corresponding to the position evaluation value for every capture image; and a capacity reduction processing part 14 for reducing the recording capacity of the capture image based on the recording capacity reduction processing mode.
