PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a digital camera to a photographable state by turning on a power source by a simple operation. SOLUTION: The digital camera 10 is provided with a zoom lens barrel 14 that projects forward from a camera body 11. The camera body 11 includes a front cover 21, a rear cover 22, and various photographing mechanisms incorporated in the camera body 11. The zoom lens barrel 14 includes; a fixed cylinder 25 formed integrally with the front cover 21; a cam cylinder 26; a movable cylinder 28 supporting a front group lens 27; a straight guide cylinder 29; a rear group lens support frame 32 supporting the rear group lens 30; a zoom ring 33; a movement detection switch 34; and a lens cover 35. When the movement detection switch 34 detects the rotation of the zoom ring 33, a power source is turned on, and also the lens cover 35 is unlocked.
