PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lightly coated paper for offset printing, capable of remarkably improving opacity after printing, causing no printing trouble and having good printing workability and color printing quality, in multicolor offset printing. SOLUTION: The lightly coated paper has on base paper a surface treating agent layer composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive, wherein the base paper contains 0.5-5.0 mass% loading material of 360-500 mL/100g oil absorption, the surface treating agent layer contains≥55 pts.mass calcium carbonate based on 100 pts.mass whole pigment, and has properties of (1) 35-50 g/m<SP>2</SP>basis weight, (2) 0.45-0.65 dynamic friction coefficient, (3)≥54% whiteness, (4)≥90% opacity after printing, (5) 60-200 s oil absorption, and (6) 20-200 s smoothness.
