PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a green light-emitting composition improved in color expression characteristics and light-emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the green light-emitting composition and processes for producing the same. The composition is expressed by the chemical formula: M(Tb<SB>1-x</SB>La<SB>x</SB>)<SB>4</SB>Si<SB>3</SB>O<SB>13</SB>(M contains at least either of Ca and Sr; and x is >0 and <1), and is produced by mixing a proper ratio of components, subsequently firing the resultant mixture at a high temperature in an atmosphere containing oxygen. The produced compound emits green light having a main peak at 541 nm when excited with 378 nm wavelength near-ultraviolet light, where x and y values of the CIE coordinates are in the ranges of (0.34-0.37) and (0.52-0.55), respectively. The method of producing the composition involves a step of weighing and mixing its component powder, and a step of forming the composition by firing the mixture at a high temperature in the atmosphere containing oxygen.
