PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bismuth-based low melting point glass composition which melts at a temperature lower than the melting point of a conventional bismuth-based sealing material and which is stable and can seal without being crystallized even if temperature is raised. SOLUTION: The bismuth-based low melting point glass composition contains, by mol, 38-48% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 16-27% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 27-35% ZnO and 0.1-6% of CuO+CoO, and does not contain PbO and SiO<SB>2</SB>substantially.
