In a cage for a roller bearing each side surface of the roller pockets has a portion (or portions) which conforms to the shape of a roller and has a portion (or portions) which is flat and inclined relatively to a plane passing through the axis of the cage and through a mid-portion of a pocket. The portion (or portions) on one side surface which conforms to the shape of the roller may be opposite to the portion (or portions) on the other side surface which is flat and inclined. In an embodiment, a pocket 1 of a cage 2 has a side surface 3 comprising portions 9 and 10 with flat inclined surfaces 11 and a portion 5 having an arcuate contour 6 positioned therebetween; and has a side surface 4 comprising portions 14 and 15 with arcuate surfaces and a portion 12 having a flat inclined surface 13 positioned therebetween. In a modification, continuous retaining projections are at the outer periphery and staggered retaining projections are at the inner periphery of the cage.</p> |
