PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skip stitch device for a double chainstitch machine, which allows an operator to skip stitches as intended and non-restricting the design of a sewing machine. SOLUTION: This skip stitch device 40 for the double chainstitch machine 10 includes a plurality of loopers 15 each catching a loop of a sewing thread T from a sewing needle 12 vertically moving by a swinging operation at its hook point and making the looper thread L insert therein, and a plurality of claws 31 of a spreader 30 each catching the looper thread L from the hook point of each looper 15 and forming a loop; and execute the sewing with at least two or more sewing needles; wherein at least tip end of each claw 31 retreats to a position for non-catching the looper thread L by turning operation by the skip stitch device 40.
