A pharmaceutical composition is provided to decrease body weight effectively through activation of energy metabolism, prevent fat from being accumulated into body, lower blood sugar, inhibit cholesterol and neutral fat amounts effectively, improve power of locomotion, enhance endurance, improve energy production capability, recover fatigue, and increase energy, thereby being useful for preventing and treating metabolic syndrome. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating metabolic syndrome comprises: (a) a pharmacologically effective amount of a compound represented by a formula(1), a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, a prodrug thereof, a hydrate thereof, a solvate thereof or an isomer thereof; and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent, excipient or a combination thereof. In the formula(1), each R1 and R2 is independently H, substituted or unsubstituted C1-24 alkyl, or substituted or unsubstituted C5-50 cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aryl or heteroaryl. The compound of the formula(1) or the salt thereof is at least one selected from the group consisting of fumaric acid, fumaric acid dimethyl ester, fumaric acid diethyl ester, fumaric acid methylethyl ester, methyl hydrogen fumarate, ethyl hydrogen fumarate, magnesium methyl fumarate, ethyl hydrogen fumarate, magnesium methyl fumarate, magnesium ethyl fumarate, zinc methyl fumarate, zinc ethyl fumarate, iron methyl fumarate, iron ethyl fumarate, calcium methyl fumarate and calcium ethyl fumarate. An activated component of the pharmaceutical composition induces to convert muscle tissue into motion tissue.
