STABLE AQUEOUS ETHANOL SOLUTION OF ZEIN, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable aqueous ethanol solution of zein preserved as a uniform transparent state without gelling for a long period of time and used as the raw material liquid of a coating agent, binder agent, etc.

SOLUTION: This aqueous ethanol solution of the zein is provided by containing 5-20 mass% zein in an aqueous solution of ethanol having ≥75 mass% and <90 mass% ethanol concentration, and without gelling for a period of ≥3 months at a room temperature. The method for producing the aqueous ethanol solution of the zein without gelling for ≥3 months at the room temperature is provided by adding zein fine powder to the aqueous ethanol solution having ≥75 mass% and <90 mass% ethanol concentration so as to become 5-20 mass% content and agitating/mixing at the room temperature, and standing still the aqueous ethanol solution of the zein containing some dregs at -4 to 9°C and separating the supernatant liquid after precipitating the dregs.
