<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating device using fewer optical components and capable of reducing speckle. <P>SOLUTION: An illumination device 100 includes: a coherent light source 102; a beam shaping and speckle reduction device 104 located on an optical path 106 between the coherent light source 102 and the image generating micro-display 108, wherein the beam shaping and speckle reduction device 104 includes a dynamic diffractive optical element 110; and a processor 112, which is configured to control the dynamic diffractive optical element 110, so that different hologram patterns uncorrelated to each other are generated on the dynamic diffractive optical element 110. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
