PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle travel control device ignoring objects on a road or objects over the road. SOLUTION: The vehicle travel control device 1 comprises an own vehicle travel locus estimating part 31 estimating the trajectory of an own vehicle; a control target determining part 34 determining a preceding vehicle to be followed by the own vehicle based on the output of a radar device 15 and the own vehicle trajectory estimating part 31; a vehicle control part 37 for following the preceding vehicle; a stationary object determining means for determining whether an object detected by the radar device 15 is stationary; and an own vehicle behavior estimating part 33 determining whether the own vehicle is in a stable travel state. The control object determining part 34 does not determine the object determined as the stationary object, as a preceding vehicle when the own vehicle is controlled to follow the preceding vehicle, when the object detected between the preceding vehicle and the own vehicle is determined as the stationary object and when the own vehicle is determined to be in the stable travel state.
