PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens inspection method and its device for greatly shortening inspection time of a lens used for converging reflected light from a document to a light receiving surface of a line sensor used in an image scanner. SOLUTION: The lens inspection method is used for converging light from the document to the light receiving surface of the line sensor comprising a photoelectric conversion element used in the image scanner that scans the document. The inspection method includes respective steps, that is, (a) a step of fixing a measurement line which is a line passing through the center of the optical axis of the lens and is used to measure the performance of the lens, and (b) a step of measuring various performances of the lens, such as resolution, focal depth, and chromatic aberration, adapted to the line of the line sensor with respect to the measurement line.
