摘要 1,106,878. Superconductive data stores. SOCIETE INDUSTRIELLE BULL-CENERAL ELECTRIC. 5 July, 1966 [29 July, 1965], No. 30225/66. Heading H3B. [Also in Division H1] A persistent current superconductive data store comprises a planar sheet of superconductor material, e.g. of tin or indium, with ribbonform control conductors, e.g. of lead disposed in planes parallel to it. Coincident currents in two control conductors cause predetermined zones of the sheet, constituting memory elements, where the fields due to the currents are additive to go resistive. On removing the control currents circulating currents persist around the resistive areas. To prevent other zones of the sheet in which high current densities occur, e.g. beneath sharp bends in the contol conductors from going resistive and adversely affecting operation of the store the critical current density of these zones is increased, e.g. by a thickening of the sheet, by using a different superconductor for these zones of the sheet, by diffusing a suitable material into the zones to modify them, or by disposing a further sheet of the same or other superconductor over the zones. The control conductor may be parallel as in Fig. 2 (not shown) or may intersect, Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), in the vicinity of the memory elements. A matrix of elements with parallel control conductors 11, 12, 21, 22 is shown in Fig. 15 with the areas of increased critical current density shaded. In a modification of this the shaded areas are diagonal strips running between the memory elements.
