<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the amount of currents to be supplied to a display unit in accordance with a detected direction. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 7 of a portable phone includes a supply current control function for an LCD display unit 4. The portable phone includes a case with a predetermined surface including a display screen of the LCD display unit 4 and a five-axis sensor 5 for detecting the vertical direction of the predetermined surface of the case. The control unit 7 inputs a detection output 16 of the five-axis sensor 5, determines whether or not the predetermined surface is turned down based on the output 16 and changes the level of a current to be supplied to the LCD display unit 4 step by step based on a result of the determination.
