Portable apparatus for the production of a dilute solution of sodium hypochlorite from a dilute solution of sodium chloride in water is described. The apparatus comprises: a container 1, at least two titanium, or titanium coated with noble metal, electrodes 2, 3, and a circuit connected to an autonomous source of electric energy. The electricity source may be delivered by sources such as disposable cells, and renewable sources such as rechargeable batteries, photovoltaic modules (PVM) or electromechanical generators, alternators or dynamos, moved by human power. The apparatus can operate in batch mode. Means for voltage stabilization and a comparator circuit may be provided. The container 1 may also be transparent. |
