Device and method for sterilising containers

The device (1) has a treatment head (5) with an outlet window (8), where a charge carrier is passed through the outlet window. A charge carrier generating source generates a charge carrier e.g. ions, and an acceleration device (6) accelerates the charge carrier in the direction of the window. The section of the head is provided in such a manner that the head is guidable through a mouth of a container i.e. beverage bottle. The acceleration device accelerates the charge carrier such that the charge carrier leaving from the window is directed on an inner wall (15) of the container. An independent claim is also included for a method for sterilizing a container.
