A one-way clutch of the jamming roller type consists of a series of rollers 8 arranged close together, and without cage, springs, &c., between an outer cylindrical race 10 and an inner member 1 provided with wedging projections, the flanks 3, 4 of which are involutes generated from base circles 5, 6 respectively. The pressure anglesα3,α4 of the respective flanks have values of about 80 to 85 degrees and 40 to 60 degrees. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the flanks 4 extend radially beyond the flanks 3 to form tooth-like projections. A small clearance, 0.02 to 0.05 mm., is provided between the outer race 10 and the circle enveloping the rollers 8. |
