An corrosion inhibitor comprising a first component containing zinc dust and a second component comprising an inorganic binder and a VOC-free or -conforming solvent has as the binder silicon dioxide and an alkali silicate at a molar ratio SiO 2 : alkali silicate of >=4 : 1. Independent claims are also included for (1) production of an inhibitor coating composition involving putting at least part of a liquid component into a mixing vessel, adding a solid component, homogenizing and adding the remainder of the liquid component; (2) an apparatus for mixing and dosing solid and liquid components of a corrosion inhibitor with a device measuring the amount of each component, a vessel and a mixing device; and (3) an applicator for applying the corrosion inhibitor onto a workpiece and including a vessel with a pressure reducer and also a spray device, both connected to the vessel.
