A method, a wireless communication system, a tangible machine-readable medium, and a communication apparatus for transmitting downlink HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) packets based on multi-hop relay standard are provided to transmit downlink HARQ packets, by transmitting at least one of downlink HARQ packets detected among multi cast downlink HARQ packets to a subscriber station(SS) like an RS(Relay Station) or an MS(Mobile Station). According to a method for transmitting HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) packets based on multi-hop relay standard, a number of first downlink HARQ packets are transmitted to a number of relay stations(RS) from a base station(BS). After at least one of first RSs receives one of the first downlink HARQ packets, a first check acknowledgement(ACK) is sent to the BS from at least one of the first RSs. At least one of the first RSs transmits a second downlink HARQ to a subscriber station(SS). The second downlink HARQ packet is equal to a part of one of the first downlink HARQ packets.
