1,116,405. Preventing liquid back flow. CLOANE VALVE CO. 31 May, 1965 [15 March. 1965], No. 23093/65. Heading E1X. '[Also in Division F2] A device for insertion into a liquid supply pipe, e.g. to prevent back syphonage from a water closet bowl into the water supply, comprises a tube with circumferentially spaced air vents and an inner flexible sleeve which seals the vents when water flows through the sleeve. The outlet end of the sleeve is shaped into triangular portions which converge towards and meet at the axis of the tube and sleeve and have slits formed in them for the passage of the water. Within the sleeve is a conical baffle with water ports. Existance of a low pressure upstream causes the sleeve to collapse against the ports thus preventing any back flow, and at the same time to uncover the air vents and prevent any rise in the water level downstream of the device.
|
