A mobile communication terminal for controlling image update intervals and a controlling method thereof are provided to display a web page on a display device quickly when the web page is received from a web server, and to reduce the number of screen updating times as maintaining image data to a minimum, thereby decreasing overall system loads. An image display module(130) stores image data in a video memory(133), and sends image data in accordance with control of a controller(150) to an image panel(132) to update an image displayed on the panel. A web page data processor(160) generates the image data by interpreting the web page data. The controller sends an image update signal at time intervals corresponding to the first setup value until an image equivalent to the web page is displayed, and transmits an image update signal at time intervals corresponding to the second setup value larger than the first value if the image corresponding to the web page is displayed in an overall image panel area.
