PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image excellent in sharpness of a character on dots and also to improve the image quality of a high density pattern part on a white ground (on non-dots) by combining filtering for controlling in each direction with filtering by a single filter without increasing the scale of hardware. SOLUTION: The image processing device is provided with: low frequency filters 202 to 205 for using directional filters respectively having directivity to apply spatial frequency correction to an image signal in each direction; and a high frequency filter 220 for using a single filter having a frequency characteristic different from those of the directional filters to collectively apply spatial frequency correction to all directions of the image signal.
