Motor vehicle framework and crashbox therefor

The crashbox (4) has a section compressible in a longitudinal direction, and a fixing element for attachment to a longitudinal beam (2) of a frame structure (1). Another fixing element is provided for attachment to a bumper carrier at opposite ends of the section. The former fixing element is in the form of a spigot that is insertible into a cavity of the longitudinal beam. A support strut extends between two rigid side flanks of the spigot via an internal cavity of the spigot. The strut includes a section that is connected to one of the flanks and unconnected to the other flank. An independent claim is also included for a frame structure for a motor vehicle, comprising a longitudinal beam and a bumper carrier.
