The possibility of breaking of a material is quantitatively evaluated by the comparison of the relationship between data obtained by a numerical analysis using a finite-element technique and a breaking limit stress line, using a breaking limit stress line, which has been provided by converting the hole expansion ratio to stress, as a criterion for breaking. According to the above construction, in determining a breaking limit of an elongation flange part in a thin plate in a course including one or more deformation process change, the breaking limit line can be determined easily and efficiently to predict breaking with high accuracy and thus to evaluate the possibility of breaking upon pressing or collision.
