<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device easy to improve definition of a display device image with a narrow distribution of emitted light, a high utilization factor of light intensity of a light source, a high brightness, and a simplified structure. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with a light guide body 3 guiding light of a primary light source and emitting it diagonally from an emitting face, and an optical deflection element 4 arranged in the vicinity of the light-emitting face 33. A plurality of prism rows are formed in parallel on a light-incident face 41 of the optical deflection element. A virtual prism row I arrayed in the same pitch as the prism rows is set with its vertical angle θ at 50 to 70°. The shape of at least a prism face further from the primary light source is to be of a convex curve on the basis of the shape of the virtual prism row I, and it is so set that the value (r/P) of curvature radius standardized at an alignment pitch P of the prism rows be 2 to 80, and the ratio (d/P) of the maximum distance d up to the prism face of the virtual prism row I and the alignment pitch P of the prism rows be 0.2 to 2%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
