1,209,760. Electromechanical delay lines. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 Dec., 1967 [28 Dec., 1966], No. 58417/67. Heading H3U. A delay line, Fig. 3a, comprises a glass body having plane parallel end surfaces to which are attached transducers t 1 , t 2 , a further plane surface 5 being perpendicular to the end surfaces. The transducers t 1 , t 2 are polarized in directions P which are parallel to their respective end surfaces and are also parallel to the surface 5. The dimension of the glass body measured in the direction perpendicular to the surface 5 is less than any dimension of that surface. In manufacture, two such delay lines are produced simultaneously by sawing in half the glass body shown in Fig. 3b having the transducers attached thereto, the saw cut forming the surfaces 5 of the delay lines. The glass body may have fluted surfaces, as shown, to absorb divergent vibrations. In another embodiment, Fig. 4b, two delay lines of polygonal shape are produced by sawing the glass body along plane 5. |
