An electric motor control apparatus for performing a variable speed control of an electric motor, wherein the gain of a proportional-plus-derivative controller using a current feedback is adjusted on-line, based on an electric constant and a machine constant of the electric motor, thereby achieving a desired control response and a stable control system. There are included a current coordinate transformer (15) that receives a current determination value of the electric motor (13) and coordinate-transforms it into a gamma-axis current, which is in phase with a position command, and a delta-axis current the phase of which advances by 90 degrees relative to the phase of the position command; a delta-axis stabilizer (16) that receives the delta-axis current to perform a proportional-plus-derivative control thereof and output a delta-axis voltage correction amount; and a delta-axis stabilization gain adjuster (17) that adjusts the proportional-plus-derivative control gain of the delta-axis stabilizer.
