A novel process for preparing alkoxypyrazine derivatives of the general formula: <IMG> in which R1 denotes hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, R2 denotes hydrogen, alkyl, -CONH2, -COOR4 or -C (NH) OR4, in which R4 is alkyl, and R3 denotes alkyl or aryl, is described. The process involves reacting a glyoxal derivative of the general formula: <IMG> and an aminoimidate of the general formula <IMG> The alkoxypyrazine derivatives are important intermediates for preparing pharmaceutically active compounds.
