A method and a system for updating a card terminal with an IC card are provided to enable a user to register the card terminal conveniently in a process for installing the card terminal with a minimized key operation process by using the IC card storing card terminal update management information or card terminal registration information. An information receiver(910) receives card terminal program update request information from a card terminal(600) when the card terminal is connected to an update management server(900) through an interface(905). An information checker(915) checks over whether updating a card terminal program is required based on the received card terminal program update request information. A program provider(920) provides an update program corresponding to the card terminal program update request information to the card terminal through the interface when updating the card terminal program is required. An information storing part(925) stores an update record of the card terminal to a storage medium(135) by linking with the card terminal information.
