The invention relates to labelled compounds consisting of .gamma.-cyano-.alpha.-aminobutyric acid, salts thereof or derivatives thereof having a protecting group, wherein the carbon atom of the cyano group is labelled with 11C. The invention also relates to labelled compounds, consisting of amino acids of formula (4), salts thereof or derivatives thereof having a protecting group: <IMG> wherein R2 is -11CONH2, or -11COOH. A method for preparing such labelled compounds is also disclosed.
