PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make variation of hue in accordance with change of characteristics of an analog front end part (AFE) hard to be conspicuous and to obtain stable image quality without increasing adjustment frequencies of the AFE in a device using an image sensor of a multi-channel reading system. SOLUTION: The image reader is characterized by being provided with: an image sensor part which scans an original image for one line by dividing it into a plurality of areas, scans the original image by dividing it into odd-numbered pixels and even-numbered pixels and outputs the results by scanning by division as analog pixel signals of four channels or more in parallel; a plurality of conversion parts which receive the analog pixel signals of a plurality of channels to convert them into digital pixel signals; an image processing part which processes the digital pixel signals to output them as image data; and a connection part to connect each conversion part and the image sensor part so that the each conversion part receives the analog pixel signals of either a plurality of channels of only the odd-numbered pixels or a plurality of channels of only the even-numbered channels.
