PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a demonstration mode from being activated even if automatic line identification is performed unsuccessfully after a user purchases an information device and turns on a power supply without setting a line, and to enable the demonstration mode to be activated reliably with the minimum procedures when a store has the information device. SOLUTION: The device has: a communication situation identification means for identifying the communication situation of the information device; a display section for displaying the demonstration mode for promoting the sales of the information device, and an electronic key; an operation section for selecting the electronic key; and a control means for identifying the communication situation when the power is turned on, activating a normal mode for usually using the information device if the identification of the communication situation succeeds, and displaying a demonstration mode selection screen for selecting the activation of the demonstration mode if the identification of the communication situation fails.
