PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which realizes a black insertion driving method applicable to a small or middle-sized TFT liquid crystal display panel and reduces the sense after-image in displaying a moving picture and reduces electric power consumption. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display 1, a voltage level to be applied to a holding capacity is shifted within 20 or higher to 80% or lower of the period, after an image signal is supplied to the pixel before the next image signal is supplied so that the potential of the pixel voltage Pixel is shifted to a potential in a black direction, by utilizing two types of first and second holding capacitor driving voltages V1, V2, with a holding capacitor driving section 500.
